The emphasis of the research subsumed under Visual Sociology lies on the analysis of the visual dimension of social practices and conditions. In alignment with media theory as well as art and image studies, fundamental theoretical and methodological concepts are developed and applied on the variety of issues mentioned above.
The research focus is part of the interdisciplinary faculty-based main area of research Visual Studies in the Social Sciences.
